Gold Creek Trail #830

This 6.3 mile trail starts at Lower Dungeness/Gold Creek trailhead on Forest Road 2870-230. Junction with Sleepy Hollow Trail #852 is at 2.9 miles. Conifer forest on steep mountain slopes in the Dungeness drainage. Some difficult sections along this heavily wooded trail with viewpoints. Need to ford at Gold Creek about 0.5 miles from the lower trailhead. This trail has some steep grades with some sections exceeding 20%. The first 0.4 miles is an old roadbed. Water is scarce.
Pick-up can be made on Forest Service Road 2870 opposite the Tubal Cain Trailhead. Pack and saddle stock or mountain bike users may want to make a long loop trip by traveling up the trail and returning on Forest Road #2870.
