Area Status: Open
This is a short 1.8 mile hike to the rocky summit of Mt. Zion from the north. The trail ascends through remnants of long-ago fires, second growth fir and cedar, spring blooming rhododendrons, Oregon grape, salal and leafy ferns. Trail grades range from 15-20%
At the summit you can decend along the 2.4 mile Snow Creek Trail #890 which steeply decends the south side of Mt Zion through mature conifer forests and wildflowers.
Deadfall Trail #849 connects to meet Snow Creek Trail after about 1.4 miles and heads south. Snow Creek Trail continues northeast to Snow Creek Trailhead.
Highlights include: Conifer forest, wildflowers, scenic panoramic views of Strait of Juan de Fuca, Cascades and the Olympic Mountains.
