Pomeroy Lake Campground


Area Status: Open

Located in Gogebic County 8 miles southeast of the town of Marenisco, Mi., on the Bessemer Ranger District in the southern half of the Ottawa National Forest. The campground consists of one camping loop with 17 campsites. All sites are spaced with natural vegetation for screening.  This campground provides drive-in sites that can accommodate tents, trailers and motor homes. Each site offers an accessible wood table, fire ring and parking spur. Four vault toilet facilities are located in the camping loop, while water is provided at one centrally located hand pump. Adjacent to the campground is a boat landing to provide you access to a variety of game fish.

Current Conditions: Camping is allowed with reduced services after October 9th. The campground is available for hunters to use until 11/30/2023 or until the snow closes the roads to the site.

Restrictions: Fees shown are for the summer recreation period when full services are provided.  During the early spring and late fall when no services are provided the fees at some areas are not charged.
  Camping in a developed recreation site is allowed for a period not longer than 14 days, except as otherwise posted. After this time, you must move to another campground or dispersed site for at least 24 hours. Campers must occupy the site the first night. Eight people and 2 motorized vehicles are allowed per campsite with a maximum of one RV or camper trailer and two tents per camping site or three tents per camping site.
Closest Towns: Marenisco, Mi., is 8 miles to the northwest. Larger towns include Ironwood, Mi., 41 miles to the west and Watermeet, Mi., is 39 miles to the east.

Directions:

From Bessemer, Mi., travel east on US 2 approximately 25 miles to FR 7300, turn right (south) onto FR 7300 and travel approximately 6 miles to CR 525, turn left onto CR 525 and travel approximately 1 ½ miles to FR 6828, turn right onto FR 6828 and travel approximately ½ mile to FR 6828A, turn right onto FR 6828A and travel approximately three tenths of a mile to the campground.

From Watersmeet, Mi., travel west on US 2 approximately 22 miles to FR 7300, turn left (south) onto FR 7300 and travel approximately 6 miles to CR 525, turn left onto CR 525 and travel approximately 1 ½ miles to FR 6828, turn right onto FR 6828 and travel approximately ½ mile to FR 6828A, turn right onto FR 6828A and travel approximately three tenths of a mile to the campground.
