Warren Auto Tour
The Warren Auto Tour takes you 45 miles to the town of Warren through some of Idaho's most scenic and historically significant mountain country in the Payette National Forest.
CD copies of the audio tour is available at the McCall Ranger District Office. Alternatively, by downloading the "National Forest & Grassland" app to your smartphone you will have the audio tour available. The booklet is availabe here (pdf).
The driving audio tour points out the highlights of this area's history, geology and scenery, including the influences of the Native American Indians, Euroamerican and Chinese miners and settlers. Along this route, there are trails to hike and places to picnic.
Once in Warren, take the historic walking tour of the buildings downtown. The Warren Guard Station is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Another interesting attraction is the Chinese Gardens, about 8 miles past Warren. Pamphlets describing these interpretive sites are available from the ranger district offices. There is a historic display in the guard station that contains some interesting artifacts from the prehistoric and mining days of the area. (90 miles round-trip, 3-4 hours)

General Information
Directions:Travel north from McCall on Warren Wagon Road. The road is paved for the first 30 miles, then changes to gravel. The historic town of Warren is about 45 minutes from McCall, past Sesech and Chinook Campground.
