Cottonwood Springs

  

Cottonwood Springs Campground is located next to Frenchman Lake in mixed conifer forest mixed with high desert vegetation. It has 20 family sites and two group sites. Several of the family sites are first come first served.

Both group sites are available by reservation only. Groupsite 'D' has room for up to 50 campers and Groupsite 'B' room for 25.

A glitch has resulted in difficulty for some in finding this campground on the reservation website. Once on the Recreation.gov website search for "Cottonwwod (CA)" then choose the item that includes "Plumas National Forest".

At a Glance

Current Conditions: The campground is open with campground host, water and trash service. The campground may close in September to allow continuation of the thinning operation started last fall. Some debris and log piles remain in the area. Flagging has been placed at these location to indicate them as unsafe. Stay away from these sites and do not collect firewood here.
Reservations: Sites can be reserved online at www.Recreation.gov  or by calling 1-877-444-6777. The campground has about half reservation and half first come first serve.

From Reno take highway 395 North to Halleluiah Junction. Head West on Highway 70 to Chilcoot. Head North on Highway284 to Frenchman Lake. Cross the dam and proceed to the campground entrance on the left.

General Notes:

The boat launch at frenchman lake is open. The loading dock has been pulled out of the water.
