Lakes Basin Campground

Area Status: Open

Lakes Basin Campground is located in the Lakes Basin Recreation Area. Located nine miles southwest of Graeagle, California, this recreation area has special geological features.  There is breathtaking scenery and over 20 small lakes nearby, most of which are accessible by hiking trails.

Current Conditions: Bears are active in this area. Campers should be aware of Food and Trash Storage Rules. Visitors should always check Alerts and Notices on the Plumas National Forest website.
Reservations: Sites can be reserved online at  or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
  • Campsites may be reserved up to six months in advance.
  • Reservations must be made at least three days in advance. 
  • This campground also has many first come first served campsites.

Take County Road 519 off of State Route 89 just out of Graeagle, California.  Proceed north approximately nine miles to campground turnoff.

Campground Camping

This is a lovely campground set along Gray Eagle Creek. It is close to several hiking trails. The swimming hole is a great place to cool off on hot summer afternoons.

RV Camping

Some of the 22 campsites here are suited for RV camping. Most of these have a maximum vehicle length of 25 feet. Campsite 2 has a maximum vehicle length of 30 feet.
