Big Cove Overflow Campground only opens when all other Frenchman Lake Recreation Area campgrounds are full. Amenities at this rustic campground include unpaved parking and vault toilet. Campers are welcome to use the showers at Big Cove Campground.

Current Conditions: As of November 19, 2021, this campground remains closed. We and our partners are working hard to have this facility ready for the 2022 season. Visitors should always check Alerts and Notices on the Plumas National Forest website.

  • OHV riding is not allowed in the campground,

Passes: Senior and Access passes honored for single campsites. These passes are available at the Beckwourth Ranger Station in Blairsden, CA. from 08:00 to 16:00. Call 530) 836-2575 for information. From Reno NV, head North on Highway 395 to Hallelujah Junction. Head West on Highway 70 to Chlicoot. Head North on Hwy. 284 to Frenchman Lake.
