Crocker Guard Station

Refurbished by volunteers so that it can be shared with our visitors, this rustic cabin sleeps 10. It's ideal for a family get together, weddings or special event. No water and no electricity make it a perfect location to get unplugged and relax.

If your group needs more accomodations, the Crocker Campground (area is unavailable) is just a hoot and a holler away.

Current Conditions: This site is closed for the season. It is expected to open in May of 2021. The first winter storm of the season is predicted for November 6.
Reservations: Sites can be reserved by calling 1-877-444-6777 or online at www.Recreation.gov  The campground has about half reservation and half first come first serve.

General Information

Directions:

From Reno travel north on Highway 395 to Hallelujah Junction and go west 17 miles on Highway 70 to the town of Beckwourth.

From Quincey go east 38 miles on Highway 70 past Portola to the town of Beckwourth.

From here take the Beckwourth - Genesee Road (County Rd 111) 16 miles to the dirt road access for Crocker Campground. Make the first right and enter through the closed gate. You will need a combination available to renters.


General Notes:

After parking go around to the front door where you can use the combination provided to renters to enter. Others will have easier access if the back door gets unlocked from within.


Parking:

There is space for three to four cars at the back of the building.

Cabin Rentals

The historical guard station was the home to the District Ranger. Recently renovated it is now able to be shared with our visitors. It is located in an aspen grove next to a meadow area and mixed pine forest at an elevation of 5,700 feet. A great place to relax, unplug or have a get together for a special occasion.

The two story building has gas lighting and stove, dry sink for dishes, pantry, a variety of cooking and cleaning supplies, dining table with chairs and ten beds spred among four bedrooms. The vault toilet is in a separate building. 

Crocker Campground is close by and offers camping in case your group requires more accommodations.
