Interpretive Areas

  • The Sunrise Lions of Prescott and the Prescott National Forest invite you to visit the Groom Creek Nature Trail. This accessible trail is located 8 miles south of Prescott on the Senator Highway (CR56) at the Groom Creek Schoolhouse. The 1500 feet paved trail will lead you through a quiet forest setting, and let you experience the smells and sensations of a ponderosa pine forest. A printed brochure about the trail is available in our Cortez office in Prescott.

Group Picnicking

  • Groom Creek Schoolhouse has 10 picnic tables.  In inclement weather up to 50 people can be accommodated indoors at tables and chairs that are stored in a back room.  Upon departure, facility should be left as it was found (i.e., tables and chairs returned to storage).
