Mingus Mountain


Located in the cool pines of central Arizona, Mingus Mountain offers a wide range of recreational opportunities including: picnicking, hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, camping, fishing, hunting, hang gliding, and paragliding.  Scroll down (below the recreation map) to learn more about the excellent recreational opportunities on Mingus Mountain.

  • Vehicular cross-country travel is prohibited
  • Dispersed camping within the recreation boundary is prohibited (see Dispersed under Camping and Cabins for more information)
  • Motorized boats are prohibited in Mingus Lake
Closest Towns: Jerome and Prescott Valley, AZ
Water: Mingus Lake is a small lake that is periodically stocked with rainbow trout.

Campground Camping

Potato Patch Campground and Mingus Mountain Campground

RV Camping

Recreation areas with activity RV Camping:

Potato Patch Campground has 12 sites with electrical hook-ups for RVs, and many sites in the non-electric loop can accommodate RVs as well.  Mingus Mountain Campground has 19 sites that accommodate RVs, but there is no electricity available at this time.  Drinking water is available for campground guests for use on site, but not for filling RV water tanks.

Summit, Viewpoint, and Mingus Day-Use areas each have several picnic tables and charcoal grills.  Mingus Lake has one picnic table, sheltered by a ramada, but no grill.
