R.R. Draw Trail #68

Railroad Draw Trail #68 provides access to the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness and the Verde River. Although this trail has been used primarily as a cattle trail and saw few recreational travelers, it is a pretty route that passes through a landscape of red sandstone. Please be aware that there is no public access to this trail from the Coconino National Forest, and must be hiked out and back.

This trail lies within the Sycamore Canyon Wilderness. Motor vehicles and the use of any mechanized equipment, including bicycles, are prohibited. Wilderness is an important resource and national heritage—please, leave no trace. Summer travelers should prepare for extremely hot, dry conditions.

Directions:

From Chino Valley, AZ: Take Perkinsville Road approximately 23 miles to FR 181. Turn right onto FR 181 and continue roughly 4 miles to its junction with FR 639. Turn right and follow FR 639 5.5 miles to the trailhead. FR 181 is suitable for high clearance vehicles. FR 639 is a high clearance 4x4 road only.
