Lynx Lake Recreation Area

EXPRECT INTERMITENT WATER OUTAGES AT LYNX LAKE REC AREA! The potable water system that serves recreation sites at Lynx Lake is experiencing issues. If you plan to visit, please BRING YOUR OWN DRINKING WATER! Also note: NO FLUSH TOILETS at times at North Shore and in one of the loops in Lynx Campground, but vault toilets are available for use in the other loops. Note: water will be available at times, but we don't want you to count on it until repairs have been completed. Thank you!


Description: Located in the cool pines just outside of Prescott, AZ, Lynx Lake Recreation Area offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities including: hiking, mountain biking, camping, fishing, boating, and picnicking. Scroll down (below the recreation map) to learn more about the excellent recreational opportunities at Lynx Lake.

Given low flow, drinking fountains remain off at day use sites,  Visitors are encouraged to bring drinking water with them.

Operational Hours: Day-use sites and trailheads:
  • March 1 - April 30: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  • May 1 - September 30: 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM
  • October 1 - February 28 (or 29): 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Open Season: Year-round
  • Pets must be on a leash (6' maximum)
  • Electric motors or 10 HP or less gas-powered motors only

  • Lynx Lake is a man-made lake of approximately 55 surface acres and is periodically stocked with trout.
  • A valid fishing or combination license is required for resident and non-resident anglers 10 years of age or older fishing any public accessible water in Arizona.
  • No swimming (by people or dogs) is permitted, and the use of boat motors is limited to electrically powered models.

  • Rentals and Guides:
    • Lynx Lake North Shore Store and Marina offers: Fishing/Camping supplies, bait, paddle boat and canoe rentals, and firewood. Store Hours: Weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Friday to 8 p.m.), Saturdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sundays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Restaurant: Breakfast and lunch daily from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dinner Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Both store and restaurant are closed Mondays (except holidays).
