Southside Campground

Area Status: Closed

Southside Campground is a developed campground within the Lake Isabel Recreation Area. Lake Isabel offers opportunities for nonmotorized boating and fishing. St. Charles Creek is close to the campground and is open for fishing. The campground is also close to motorized and nonmotorized trails including Cisneros Trail #1314, St. Charles Trail #1316 and Snowslide Trail #1318.

Reservations: Call 1-877-444-6777 or visit www.recreation.gov at least four days in advance. Friday and Saturday night minimum required stay on weekends. Three nights minimum on holiday weekends. Walk-ups are exempt from the nightly minimum.

Fees:
$25 fee per site for overnight camping. Two vehicles or one RV per site is included in the camping fee. $10 for a third vehicle. 
 
Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available.
 
First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the same night.

Restrictions:
  • Maximum of 8 persons per site: 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle (RV).
  • Maximum RV length is 30 feet. Tight turns prevent vehicles over 30 feet in length from safely maneuvering through this campground.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground.
  • Camping is not allowed behind a locked gate.

The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass) and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

General Information

Directions:

From Pueblo, go 25 miles south on Interstate 25 to exit 74. Go west 18 miles on State Highway 165. Turn into the south entrance at Lake Isabel, go ½ mile and look for the Southside Campground signs.

Campground Camping

8 campsites, all are RV accessible with a spur length of 30 feet. Tight turns prevent vehicles longer than 30 feet in length from safely maneuvering through this campground. Do not exceed the maximum length of 30 feet! Restrooms and trash receptacles are located in campground. Firewood is available for sale at the site. No RV hook-ups. This campground is suitable for RV's, not desirable for tents. Sites are close to the lake, but not very private. Roads are paved.
