St. Charles Campground

Area Status: Closed

St. Charles Campground  is a developed campground within the Lake Isabel Recreation Area. Lake Isabel offers opportunities for non-motorized boating and fishing. St. Charles Creek is close to the campground and is open for fishing. The campground is also close to motorized and non-motorized trails including Cisneros Trail #1314, St. Charles Trail #1316 and Snowslide Trail #1318.  There is a pleasant hiking trail along Lake Isabel. 

Reservations for ten of the 15 sites are required. Five sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

NOTE: This is a non-electric campground. 

All dates are weather dependent. All services may not be available early or late in the season.

Reservations: Call 1-877-444-6777 or visit www.recreation.gov at least 4 days in advance. Friday and Saturday night minimum required stay on weekends. Three nights minimum on holiday weekends. Walk-ups are exempt from the nightly minimum.
Fees: $25 fee per site for overnight camping. Two vehicles or one RV per site is included in the camping fee. $10 for a third vehicle. Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available. First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the same night.

  • Maximum 8 persons per site: 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground.
  • Camping is not allowed behind a locked gate.

Water: Drinking water is provided by a well with a hand pump.
Restroom: Double vault accessible toilet.
Passes:

The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass) and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

Directions:

From Pueblo, go 25 miles south on interstate 25 to exit 74. Go west 18 miles on state Hwy 165. Turn into the south entrance at Lake Isabel, go 1 mile and look for the St Charles campground signs.

Campground Camping

15 campsites, all are RV accessible for small trailers. Restrooms and trash receptacles are located in campground. Firewood is available for sale at the site. No RV hook-ups. This campground is suitable for RV's and tents. Sites are 1 mile from the lake. Roads are paved.
