Devil's Head Campground

NOTE 6/14/2022: Only the upper loop of the campground is open at this time. Sedimentation needs to be cleared before the lower loop can open. Thank you for understanding.

Devil's Head Campground resides at the base of the Devil's Head Trail. Rock formations dot the landscape and provide outstanding views of the surrounding area. No dump station or hook-up available.

Peak season is Memorial Day through Labor Day. During peak season, the campground offers full service (host on site, trash). Extended season has reduced services.

All dates are weather dependent. Dates of operation below are dates visitors may expect full service. The area also has an extended season when services such as water, trash or a host may not be available during the fall/winter/spring.

Seasonal closure information: Rampart Range road is closed annually by December 1 and remains closed throughout the winter. The road reopens when conditions are favorable for summer recreation. A target date is April 1, but weather conditions may delay opening until late-May.
Reservations: This campground is strictly a first-come, first-served campground.
Fees:
  • Camping: $25.00/per site/per night. Two (2) vehicles or one (1) RV per site is included in the camping fee. $10.00 for a third vehicle.
  • Day use: $10.00/per day if not camping overnight.
  • Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Scan and pay is available.

Restrictions: The following restrictions apply to this campground:
  • Maximum 8 persons per site, 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Only street licensed vehicles are permitted within the Devil's Head Campground. Consult the current Motor Vehicle Use Map (MVUM) for specific roads and trails open to off-road vehicles.
  • Camping is NOT ALLOWED behind a LOCKED GATE.
Closest Towns: Sedalia is 20 miles northeast, along Highway 67. Denver/Morrison is approximately a 1.5 hour drive north of the campground via Highway 85.
Water: No water
Restroom: Vault toilets
Passes: The Interagency Senior Pass and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

General Information

Directions:

To reach this area, take U.S. Highway 85 south to Sedalia. Turn west on Highway 67 for 10 miles to the junction with Rampart Range Road. Turn south onto Rampart Range Road for 10 miles. Devil's Head Campground will have a signed turn off.


Parking:

Parking is available for either 2 vehicles or 1 recreational vehicle per campsite. Additional parking is available apart from the campsite.

A fee of $6 will be charged for the third vehicle.
