Elbert Creek Campground

Located off the Halfmoon Road (FSR 110), Elbert Creek is a first-come, first-served campground adjacent to the Mount Elbert and Mount Massive Trailheads at 10,000 feet. This is a very popular campground for hikers. Facilities include picnic tables, fire rings, vault toilets, and potable water.
High altitude sickness may occur at this altitude.

$20.00 fee per site for overnight camping. Two (2) vehicles or one (1) RV per site is included in the camping fee. $7.00 for a third vehicle.
$7.00 fee for day use if not camping overnight.
Fees are payable by cash, check, or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available.
First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the FIRST NIGHT.

The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass), the Interagency Access Pass, and the Interagency Military Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

From Leadvile, travel south approximately 3 miles on US Hwy 24. Turn RIGHT on Colorado 300 at the Leadville National Fish Hatchery sign. Continue about 3/4 of a mile and turn LEFT at the Halfmoon Campground sign. Follow this road and turn RIGHT at the Halfmoon sign at the end of the pavement. This dirt road will lead to the Halfmoon East/West and Elbert Creek areas. (Note: This road is not maintained in the winter.)
