Lakeview Campground

Area Status: Closed

Lakeview Campground is a large campground situated in lodgepole pine, ponderosa pine and sage habitat at an elevation of 9,500 feet overlooking Twin Lakes Reservoir. Facilities include vault restrooms, picnic tables, fire rings, and pedestal grills.

The campground has eight loops, A – H. Loops A-F are reservable sites, while sites in loops G and H are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are not reservable. Some of the sites have beautiful views of Twin Lakes Reservoir. Firewood is for sale at the host site.

High altitude sickness may occur at this altitude.

Dates are weather dependent. All services may not be available early or late in the season.

Reservations: Call 1-877-444-6777 or visit www.recreation.gov at least four days in advance. Friday and Saturday night minimum required stay on weekends. Three nights minimum on holiday weekends. Walk-ups are exempt from the nightly minimum.

Fees:
  • $27 nightly fee per site for overnight camping which includes two vehicles. A third vehicle is an additional $10 per night. RVs and ATV/boat trailers count as one vehicle.
  • Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available.
  • First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the first night.

Restrictions:
  • Maximum of eight people per site
  • Maximum three tents per site or one RV and two tents
  • Dogs, including service dogs, must be leashed at all times
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks
  • Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground
  • Camping is not allowed behind a locked gate

Water: Water may not be available. Bring water.
Restroom: Vault toilets are available in the campground.
Passes: America the Beautiful Senior or Access Pass cardholders may receive a 50% discount off the camping fee only. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

Directions:

From Leadville, travel 15 miles south on US Hwy 24; turn RIGHT on Highway 82 and travel 4 miles to Lake County Road 24. Turn RIGHT on Lake County Road 24 at the campground sign; travel 1 mile north to the campground, which is on the left side of the road.
