Lakeview Campground


Lakeview Campground is a large campground situated in lodgepole pine, ponerosa pine and sage habitat at an elevation of 9,500 feet overlooking Twin Lakes Reservoir. Facilities include vault restrooms, picnic tables, fire rings, and pedestal grills.

The campground has eight loops, A – H. Loops A – F have reservable sites, while sites in loops G and H are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and are not reservable. Some of the sites have beautiful views of Twin Lakes Reservoir. Firewood is for sale at the host site.

High altitude sickness may occur at this altitude.

Reservations: Phone 877-444-6777 or visit at least 5 days in advance. Friday and Saturday night minimum required stay on weekends. 3 nights minimum on holiday weekends. Walk-ups are exempt from the nightly minimum.

$23.00 fee per site for overnight camping. Two (2) vehicles or one (1) RV per site is included in the camping fee. $6.00 for a third vehicle. 
$7.00 fee for day use if not camping overnight.
Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available.
First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the FIRST NIGHT.
Golden Age and Golden Access Cardholder: 50% discount off the camping fee only.

Restrictions: The following restrictions apply to this campground:
  • Maximum 8 persons per site: 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground.
  • Camping is NOT ALLOWED behind a LOCKED GATE.
Closest Towns: Buena Vista and Leadville, CO
Water: Water is available from hand pumps- no filling of RV tanks allowed.
Restroom: Vault toilets are available in the campground.

The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass) and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

General Information


From Leadville, travel 15 miles south on US Hwy 24; turn RIGHT on Highway 82 and travel 4 miles to Lake County Road 24. Turn RIGHT on Lake County Road 24 at the campground sign; travel 1 mile north to the campground, which is on the left side of the road.
