Bear Lake Campground is a developed campground with lake and stream fishing opportunities. The trailhead for Indian Trail #1300 is located on the north side of campground. This trailhead is a multi-use trail system and accesses 23 miles of motorized trails available for ATV, motorcycle, bicycle, foot, and horse use.

Dates are weather dependent. All services may not be available early or late in the season.

Fees: $24.00 per site fee is charged for overnight camping. Two vehicles are included in the camping fee: $10.00 extra fee for additional vehicles. Fees are payable by cash, check or money order. Self-servicing fee tube is available. First-come, first-served sites must be occupied the first night. Senior, Access (handicap), Golden Age and Golden Access Cardholders: 50% discount off the camping or day-use fees.

Restrictions: The following restrictions apply to this campground:
  • Maximum 8 persons per site: 2 tents and 2 vehicles or 1 recreation vehicle.
  • Dogs must be leashed at all times.
  • No discharge of firearms or fireworks.
  • Only licensed vehicles can operate inside campground.
  • Camping is NOT ALLOWED behind a LOCKED GATE.

Passes:

The Interagency Senior Pass (previously known as the Golden Age Pass) and the Interagency Access Pass qualifies for a 50% discount at concessionaire run campsites. The discount only applies to the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party.

Directions:

To get there from La Veta, drive south on SH 12 for 15 miles to FSR 422. Turn right onto FSR422 and follow it for 5 miles until you reach the Bear Lake Campground, one mile past Blue Lake Campground.

Campground Camping

15 campsites, with maximum spur length of 40 feet. Parking spurs, tables, fire rings, grills, trash receptacles are provided at this campground. Drinking water is provided by a well with a hand pump. There is 1 double vault accessible toilet and 1 single vault toilet.
