Mosquito Pass Auto Tour

Area Status: Open

Mosquito Pass Auto Tour is a 9 1/2-mile interpretive route north of Fairplay to the summit of Mosquito Pass on the way to Leadville. It is moderate to difficult, steep and very rocky, and a high-clearance, 4-wheel drive vehicle is recommended. Mosquito Pass is usually only open for six to eight weeks after the snow melts in July.

General Information


From Fairplay, follow Colorado Highway 9 north for 4 1/5 miles to County Road 12 (Mosquito Pass Road) and turn left.  The tour begins quickly after turning off Highway 9.
