Located south of the town of Winfield, this 14,003 peak is a popular climb. Keep in mind that although the summit of Huron Peak is not within the Collegiate Peaks Wilderness Area, please be aware that you are surrounded by Wilderness and remember these regulations if you choose to enter the surrounding area.
The Winfield Route is 3.5 miles long and begins at the end of South Clear Creek Road (Forest Service Road 390) past Clear Creek Reservoir between Buena Vista and Leadville, Colorado.

From Leadville, travel south on US Hwy 24 approximately 22 miles to Chaffee County Road 390. Travel west on Chaffee County 390 eleven miles to the ghost town of Winfield. Turn south onto Forest Service Road 390.2B. After 1/4 mile there is parking for passenger cars. Those with high clearance, 4WD vehicles can go an additional 1.6 miles to the end of South Clear Creek Road. From this parking area, follow the signs for Mount Huron.
