Interlaken Trail

View from Interlaken Trail

This 2.2-mile, non-motorized trail offers an easy walk or mountain bike ride to the historic resort cabins of Interlaken. It is also a great trail for cross-country skiing or snowshoeing in the winter. From the southeast side of the dam, follow this single-track trail along the lakeside or continue up to Hope Pass. The trail provides access to the National Historic Landmark of Interlaken.

In addition to the lakes, some of Colorado’s highest peaks loom above to the west. This trail, which follows part of the Colorado Trail, puts you in the center of paradise. As you walk, ski, mountain bike ride, or snowshoe west on the Colorado Trail along the edge of the lake, you face Mount Elbert, Colorado’s highest mountain.

This hike is one of Leadville Ranger District's Suggested Day Hikes.
