Rito Alto Trail #745

Area Status: Open

The Rito Alto Trail is 8.3 miles long. It begins at Forest Boundary and ends at Forest Trail # 747.

The trail ascends a rugged, steep canyon with diverse vegetation and is well marked to Rito Alto Lake.  The upper part of the drainage is very steep. Attractions are fishing in the creek and lake, and big game. A primitive route to Blind Lakes takes off about 3 miles above the Forest Boundary.

The trail is open for the following uses: Hiking, Fishing, and Horseback Riding

General Information

Directions:

Follow the Mirage Lane Road (CR AA) east from Hwy 17 for 5 miles. Turn south (CR 64) for 2.5 miles. Turn east for about 3.5 miles to trailhead. Also accessible via Cotton Creek Trail #749 or North Fork Crestone Trail #747.
