General Information
Directions:From Applegate, OR, drive east on Highway 238 for 6 miles. Then go right onto Hamilton Road and follow for 2 miles and take a right onto Upper Applegate Road. Follow Upper Applegate Road for about 17 miles. Just after crossing the Carberry Bridge over Applegate Lake turn left and continue 1.5 miles to the junction of Forest Roads 1040 and 1050. This junction is a wide spot in a gravel road just south of the California state line. Turn right on Forest Road 1040 and follow for 12 miles to the "Frog Pond Trailhead" sign and bulletin board. The Middle Fork National Recreation Trail may be accessed above or below the small turnout on the road.
From Seiad Valley, CA, take Seiad Creek Road north for 12 miles. Then go right on Forest Road 1055 and follow for 9.7 miles then go left on Forest Road 1050. Follow Forest Road 1050 for about a mile to the junction of Forest Roads 1040 and 1050. This junction is a wide spot in a gravel road just south of the California state line. Turn left on Forest Road 1040 and follow for 5 miles. Go left at the Forest Road 1040 junction with Forest Road 1035 and travel another 7 miles to the "Frog Pond Trailhead" sign and bulletin board. The Middle Fork National Recreation Trail may be accessed above or below the small turnout on the road.
