Big Pine Campground

Temporary Closure Order due to hazardous trees.

These sites are located in a rustic camp. Campsites are suitable for tents and trailers. This site is home to what was once the world's tallest ponderosa pine tree--it is now the second tallest!


  • 12 campsites with picnic tables, and fire pits
  • Drinking water (hand pump)
  • 3 vault toilets
  • Garbage disposal (during open season)

Reservations: First come, first served
  • $5 for campsite
  • $2 for extra vehicle
Usage: Medium
  • Quiet hours between 10 p.m. and 8 a.m.
  • Campfires in developed fire pits only
  • Fireworks are prohibited
  • Dogs must be on leash
  • OHV/ATV use prohibited in the campground
  • Maximum length of stay: 14 days

General Information


From Grants Pass, OR, travel northwest 17.8 miles on Interstate 5 west and take the Merlin / Galice Road about 12 miles left onto Forest Road 25 and go 12 miles to the campground.

Campground Camping

  • Nice rustic campground with easy to moderate hiking trails.  
  • A swing set, horse shoe pit, large meadow for volley ball, Frisbee, baseball, and other activities.  
  • Trail for Mountain Bikes.
  • Camp sites are along a small mountain stream in an old growth forest setting.
  • The site of the "Big Pine" tree.
