This trail is located primarily within the Red Buttes Wilderness. It's located in California, and runs east to west. From Azalea Lake, within the wilderness, it follows Butte Fork of the Applegate River.
Because of its remote location, there is always the potential for trail users to encounter logs across the trail. The Siskiyou Mountain Club endeavored to clear logs and brush the trail in the summer of 2016, but users should be aware of the potential for encountering large logs across the trail.
From Ruch, OR, turn left onto Upper Applegate Road and continue approximately 20.2 miles to the junction with Forest Road 1050 and Forest Road 1040. Turn right onto Forest Road 1040. Continue approximately 3.7 miles to destination on the left. (This trailhead also accesses Horse Camp Trail #958.)
