The House Creek Recreation Complex is across the reservoir from the McPhee Complex. From Dolores, take 11th Street to the Dolores-Norwood Road (Forest Rd. 526) and go about six miles, then southwest on the House Creek Road (Forest Rd. 528) for just over 5 miles. The access road and parking areas are paved. This gently sloping, grassy area is near the reservoir’s high-water line. There has an open play area, sanitary dumping station, group picnic area, and four-lane boat ramp.

The campground has 65 campsites in three loops; two are designed for wheelchairs. 35 of the sites are reservable, 12 with electric, and 25 sites are non-reservable.  The two adjacent group areas can each accommodate 30 people and can also be reserved in advance (no electrical hookups are available in the group sites).

Fish Your National Forests: This site can be accessed by Passenger Car; Fish available include: Salmon, Trout, Bass, Catfish, Walleye, Panfish; Types of fishing available include: Wade, Shore, Motorized boat, Float tube, Fly, Spin, Bait, Ice;

Directions:

Directions from Dolores, Colorado: Travel 37 miles northwest to campground on following roads: Highway 184, U.S. Highway 491 and County Roads 505 and 504.

General Notes:

The access road and parking areas are paved.

There is an open play area, composting toilets, sanitary dumping station, group picnic areas, and four-lane boat ramp. This gently sloping, grassy area is near the reservoir’s high-water line.

No firewood or showers.

The family campground has 45 sites in three loops; 17 sites have electrical hookups and two are designed for wheelchairs (Loop "A" site #5, Loop "B," site #40).

  • Loop "A" has 26 sites, including four group sites (day-use only, up to 30 people each)
     
  • Loop "B" offers 16 sites (reservations are required on this loop only; all other campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis), including three group sites.
     
  • Loop "C" has 5 pull-thru sites, 3 walk-in lakefront sites, and one group day-use-only area.
