Council Group Campground

Area Status: Closed

Located on the north side of Highway 38 between the Barton Flats Visitor Center and Barton Flats Family Campground (off of Camp Arbolado Road) accommodates up to 50 people and 10 vehicles.

The camp site has 6 picnic tables, 3 double-pedestal grills, 2 single-pedestal grills, 2 fire rings. Bear boxes are available for food storage. Box dimension 48"x 29"x 26".

A hiking trail, the Rio Monte Trail (1E28) heads east out of the entrance to this campground, crossing both Barton Flats and San Gorgonio Family Campgrounds, Oso and Lobo Group Campgrounds, then ends just past the Greyback Amphitheater. Heading west on this trail out of the campground, then crossing Highway 38, this trail connects with Jenks Lake Trail (1E20).

Restrictions:	This campground requires a 2 day minimum stay on the weekends and a 3 day minimum stay on holiday weekends. Parking is limited. No discharge of fireworks or firearms allowed in campground. All pets must be leashed.

Directions:

Take I-10 East to Redlands. Take the University Street exit, EXIT 80. Turn left (northbound) on University Street. Turn right onto E. Lugonia Avenue/SR-38. Continue on State Highway 38. From the Mill Creek Work Station go approximately 17 miles to campground.

General Notes:

Reservations can be placed as late as 24 hours in advance based upon availability. For example, reservations could be made on a Thursday before 2pm, for a Friday 2pm check in, if there is availability.
