Devils Slide Trail 3E05
This 2.5 mile moderate trail ascends from Humber Park to Saddle Junction with many switchbacks and far reaching views. Starting at 6,400 ft. the elevation gain is 1,700 ft. From Saddle Junction, a network of trails lead to San Jacinto Peak (10,834 ft.), the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (8,516), and Tahquitz Peak Fire Lookout (8,846 ft.). The Pacific Crest Trail passes through Saddle Junction. This is part of the San Jacinto Wilderness area. Backpacking is allowed in the Chinquapin, Skunk Cabbage, Tahquitz and North Rim zones.

|Humber Parking lot is closed. Day use permits are required for all wilderness trails. San Jacinto Wilderness Visitor Permit Application The trail can be very dangerous when snow and ice conditions are present, especially on Chinquapin Ridge, between Pacific Crest Trail and Tahquitz Peak Fire Lookout. Visitors should take extreme caution and only go with proper gear (e.g. traction devices, ice axe, etc.) and experience/training using that gear.

|Day use permits are required for all wilderness trails. Devil's Slide permits are limited on Saturdays and Sundays beginning Memorial weekend until Labor Day weekend. You must have a permit stamped for that date, issued by the staff, all others are not valid. Send in your permit request in advance by mail or fax. Have a second choice in mind, in case you cannot get a Devil's Slide permit for Saturday or Sunday during that period. San Jacinto Wilderness Visitor Permit Application
