Borah Peak Trail #4044

Area Status: Open

The well-marked trailhead is at the end of BLM Road #279 that exits Highway 93 about 21 miles from Mackay. 

The first part of  the trail goes through scattered timber.  The trail is easy to moderate for about 2 miles, however the last mile has sections of  hand-over-hand extreme climbing through bare rock. This challenging climb is highly popular and takes an average of 12 hours.

Expect several hundred people at the trailhead on the weekends.  Bring plenty of water since none is available.
