Woods Ferry Recreation Area, in western Chester County, lies within a beautiful wooded floodplain surrounded by upland pine woods and maturing hardwood forests. Campers and day-users can choose from a variety of activities: picnicking, fishing, canoeing, or horseback riding. Its location on the Broad River makes fishing and boating easily accessible.

The new Woods Ferry trailhead will be closed Tuesday, May 26 2020, for gravel grading work. No vehicles will be allowed in the parking area for the entire day. The older trailhead located on FS Road 301C will be available for use at this time. Please call the Enoree District Office at (803) 276-4810, or check our Facebook page for any additional/changing information.

At a Glance

Current Conditions: As of Friday, May 15, 2020, Woods Ferry campground is open. The campground has a vault toilet that is open and water is available. Only the campground is open at Woods Ferry Recreation Area--the picnic area and boat ramp remain closed. No group sites or double sites can be used. All available campsites are family sites with a maximum of 8 people allowed and two vehicles with or without trailers.
Fees Campsites 1 – 30, $7/night for family site $14/night for group sites (10 & 30), maximum 14-day limit
Permit Info: A valid South Carolina fishing license is required to fish on the national forests.
Open Season: Now Open
Restrictions: Campground has self-service pay station. Campers have 30 minutes to pay for site at information/fee station. There is no day-use parking for horse trailers at the picnic area day use parking lot.
Water: Centrally located water spigots during open season

General Information

Directions: From Hwy. 72 and Leeds Rd., County 12-25, drive north 1.8 miles. Turn left, at intersection of Leeds Rd., County 12-25, and County Rd. 49 and drive 0.1 miles. Cross over railroad tracks and drive 3.4 miles north to Park Rd., County 12-574. Turn left onto Park Rd., County 12-574, and drive 3.6 miles to the end of the paved road. From Hwy. 9 and County 49, drive south 5.6 miles.Turn right at Park Rd., County 12-574, and drive 3.6 miles to the end of the paved road.
