General Information
Directions:Philson Crossroads Rifle Range, from I-26 in Laurens County: At Interstate 26 and Hwy. 56, drive north .5 miles. Turn right at Hwy. 56 and 44-22, Barrel Stave Rd, drive 3.9 miles. Turn right at 44-22 and State Highway S-30-26, Philson Rd. drive 0.4 miles. Turn left at Philson Rd and Forest Service Rd. 7009 and drive 0.2 miles to rifle range.Philson Crossroads Rifle Range, from Hwy. 49 in Laurens CountyAt Hwy. 49 and Jones Ford Rd. 44-22 turn right and drive 0.3 miles to four- way stop. At intersection of Jones Ford Rd. 44-22 and 44-18 drive south 6.4 miles. Turn left at 44-22 and State Highway S-30-26, Philson Rd. drive 0.4 miles. Turn left at Philson Rd and Forest Service Rd. 7009 and drive 0.2 miles to rifle range.
General Notes:
Best practices for using the rifle range:
- Keep the rifle range free of litter.
- Only stationary paper or manufactured targets mounted on self-provided stands or holders. Using bottles, cans, pumpkins, watermelons etc. or other trash as targets is prohibited.
- Targets and target holders must be positioned at the base of the berm, to catch all bullets and eliminate the chance of ricochet.
- Use eye and ear protection.
- Follow the four rules of gun safety:
- Treat all guns as if they are loaded
- Control your muzzle: Keep your firearm pointed in a safe direction
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond.
- Keep your finger outside of the trigger guard until you are ready to shoot.
Activities
Target Shooting
- All ranges are ADA Accessible with one ADA table and 100 yard concrete walkway downrange.
- All ranges have one ADA Accessible shooting table and five tables with left and right side shooting benches under a covered shelter.
- All ranges have berms located down range. Distances from shooting tables to berms vary with the maximum distance being 100 yards.
- There are no restrooms or water available at any of the ranges.
