This campground sits at 7,600 ft elevation. It is nearby to Big Meadow Creek, Buck Rock Lookout, and trails into Jennie Lakes wilderness.

Natural Features: The Sequoia National Forest is located at the southern end of the Sierra Nevada in central California. The forest is divided into three districts that comprise 1.1 million acres. The Hume Lake Ranger District, in which this campground is located, has elevations range from about 1,000 along the Kings River near Pine Flat Reservoir and to 11,000 feet, the peak of Mt Harrington. This land scape is home to 13 Sequoia Groves and the majestic Kings Canyon.

Recreation: Several trails pass nearby, offering excellent hiking, and streams along the way provide trout fishing. At Lake Hume, approximately 15 miles away, visitors enjoy swimming, non-motorized boating, fishing and hiking. The trails in the district are open to hikers, horses and bikes (however, bikes are not permitted in wilderness areas).

Facilities: This campground has one vault toilet. Each site has a table and campfire ring. There is no water provided or food storage boxes. This is bear country and proper food storage is required. There is also no trash services, so pack it in pack it out.

  • Access to this campground requires to pay the Park Entrance Fee.
  • This is bear country; visitors should follow safety precautions and store food properly. Due to the spread of invasive insects, firewood from outside the area is not permitted. Help protect our forests by purchasing or collecting firewood at or near your camping destination and burning it on-site. 
  • Fire restrictions may be enforced at any time due to hot, dry weather conditions, at which time campfires and charcoal fires may not be allowed. Campfire permits may be required during fire restrictions. Please view the Sequoia National Forest Fire Restrictions on the "Home" page. You can obtain a campfire permit at permit.preventwildfiresca.org.

Directions: From Grant Grove, go 7 miles southeast on Generals Highway and 4 miles east on Big Meadow Road (Forest Road 14S11).
