The Siltcoos River trail has several access points and for most of the journey is a slow-moving drift. A small dam requires portaging via a metal chute, and ocean waves require caution.
This trail enters the nesting habitat of the threatened snowy plover. To avoid disturbing these highly camouflaged beach nesting birds, you must remain in your boat for the last one third of the trip.
