Horse Creek Trail #1362
The Drift Creek Wilderness (5,798 acres) is one of three wilderness areas established on the Siuslaw National Forest and the largest on the Coast Range. There are two main trails, the Horse Creek Trail and the Harris Ranch Trail. Stock use prohibited due to fragile soil conditions.
From the Horse Creek north trailhead, the trail enters Drift Creek Wilderness after 0.6 mile while descending toward Drift Creek, traveling through old growth Douglas-fir, hemlock and Sitka spruce.
From the Horse Creek south trailhead, the trail enters the Drift Creek Wilderness after 1.6 miles as it descends through old growth Douglas-fir, hemlock and Sitka spruce toward Drift Creek.
There is no bridge at the Drift Creek, and crossing can be difficult. The best time to cross is in late summer when water levels are down.
