This trail features a beautiful alpine meadow, a lake with an island in the middle, and great views. The first mile and a half is fairly level in the alpine meadow, then the trail starts an ascent into a more difficult slope. The trail connects with the Heiser Lake Trail at the 2-mile marker and then continues to the Mosquito Lakes Trailhead on Highway 4.
The trail starts at the Stanislaus Meadow Trailhead off of Highway 4 east of Lake Alpine; the distance to the lake from there is 3.5 miles.
