Cherry Valley Campground is located in a mixed conifer forested site near Cherry Lake. Each site has a picnic table, bear box, and a campfire pit with a grill. Vault toilets are available. Notice: As of June 23, 2021 potable water is not available due to current drought conditions. Visitors are advised to bring water on their trip.

Fees: American Land & Leisure operates Cherry Valley Campground and charges the following fees:
  • $26.00 for a single-family site
  • $52.00 for a double-family site
American Land & Leisure operates this campground under a special use permit administered by the Forest Service. The fees paid by concessionaires finance the refurbishment of facilities in the campgrounds they operate.
Open Season: May - September
Restrictions: Camp in designated sites only. The number of people allowed in a single campsite is 6. The maximum length of stay in any campground is 14 days. Campfire permits are not required in developed campgrounds. Do not burn plastic or metal. Please leave the area in as good (or better) condition than you found it. Often, locations destroyed by thoughtless campers must be closed to restore the area's natural health. Help ensure your favorite area remains open.

General Information

Directions:

Travel From Groveland, California: The Cherry Valley Campground can be reached from Hwy 120 using Cherry Lake Road (Forest Road 1N07). Travel east from Groveland, California about 13.8 miles. Turn left on Cherry Lake Road. Continue on Cherry Lake Road for approximately 23.5 miles to Cottonwood Road (Forest Road 1N04). Turn left and travel approximately a half mile north.  You will see the Cherry Valley Campground sign, then turn right towards the campground.

Travel from Tuolumne, California:  Take Buchanan Road, which turns into Cottonwood Road (Forest Road 1N04). Travel approximately 30 miles to the Cherry Valley Campground sign, then turn left into the campground.

NOTE: The Tuolumne route is advisable for visitors in RVs and or towing equipment. Cherry Lake Road is narrow and steep and not advised for RVs or trailers.

Activities

Campground Camping

Tent and RV camping is permitted.

RV Camping

Maximum RV/trailer length is 32 feet. No RV hookups available. Cherry Valley Campground has drinking water, but filling of RVs is not allowed. The nearest fill up locations are in Groveland. Cherry Valley Campground does not have a dump station.

Group Camping

There are a few double sites for multi-family camping trips.

Lake and Pond Fishing

Available at Cherry Lake located next to campground.

Day Hiking

Cherry Lake Campground has a trail to Cherry Lake near site #10. Additionally, trailheads to Lake Eleanor, Kibbie Lake, and Kibbie Ridge in the Emigrant and Yosemite Wilderness Areas are located across the Cherry Lake Dam.

Boating - Motorized

Boat Launch and Motorized Boating is closed at this time due to Dam Valve Replacement Project. Cherry Lake Boaters must follow California Department of Boating and Waterways regulations: http://www.dbw.ca.gov when open.

Boating - Non-Motorized

Available at Cherry Lake located next to campground. Boat trailer parking is available near the boat ramp. Boaters must follow California Department of Boating and Waterways regulations: http://www.dbw.ca.gov

Swimming

Available at Cherry Lake located next to campground. Swimming near the boat ramp is not recommended.

Waterskiing

Available at Cherry Lake located next to campground. Boat trailer parking is available near the boat ramp. Boaters must follow California Department of Boating and Waterways regulations: http://www.dbw.ca.gov

Windsurfing

Available at Cherry Lake located next to campground. Boat trailer parking is available near the boat ramp. Boaters must follow California Department of Boating and Waterways regulations: http://www.dbw.ca.gov
