Herring Reservoir Campground situated in a mixed conifer forest near Herring Reservoir. It is located on Forest Road 4N12; turn right onto Herring Creek Road (4N12) off of Highway 108, about 3 miles from the Summit Ranger Station. The campground is approximately 9 miles from the Summit Ranger Station. There are 9 sites; each site has a table and a fire ring. The main road and parking pads are dirt-surfaced. Potable water is not available. Toilets are vault-style.

Operational Hours: Campground is scheduled to be open from May through December 15, weather permitting.
Reservations: First come, first serve. No reservations may be made for Herring Reservoir Campground.
Fees The Forest Service operates Herring Reservoir Campground and suggests a donation to assist in cost of maintaining the campground.
Permit Info: If you wish to use a stove, grill, or have a campfire it is recommended, but not required, that you get a campfire permit.  This FREE Permit can be obtained at preventwildfiresca.org or at any ranger station. Do not burn plastic or metal. Please leave the area in as good (or better) condition than you found it.
Open Season: May, weather permitting - December 15, weather permitting
Restrictions: Camp in designated sites only. The number of people allowed in a single campsite is six. The maximum length of stay in any campground is 14 days. Please leave the area in as good (or better) condition than you found it. Often, locations destroyed by thoughtless campers must be closed to restore the area's natural health. Help ensure your favorite area remains open.

Water: Potable water is not available. Untreated water available from stream (if flowing). Treat water.
