Pioneer Trail Group Campground is situated in the Pinecrest Basin approximately 1.5 miles on Dodge Ridge Road from the Pinecrest Lake Day Use Area and the Summit Ranger Station.  Pioneer Trail is a group campground with three individual camp sites.  Two of the campsites have 50-person capacities; the third campsite can accomodate up to 100-persons.  Each site has pedestal BBQ grills, fire rings, several tables (including a food preparation table) and several water hydrants.  Each site has a paved parking area of various parking capacities, either 10, 15 or 25 vehicles –  depending on the size of the vehicles.  A one-mile trail leads from the campground sites to the Pinecrest Lake Day Use Area.  Reservations can be made year-round by contacting the National Recreation Reservation Service a (1-877-444-6777).  Call early for reservations.

Fees: Group Camping: Dodge Ridge Corporation operates Pioneer GroupCampground and charges the following fees:
  • $118.00 for a 50-person capacity site (2 sites)
  • $163 for 100-person capacity site (1 site)
Individual winter camping: No fees.

Dodge Ridge Corporation operates this campground under a special-use permit administered by the U.S. Forest Service. The fees collected from overnight campers go back into upgrading campground facilities and amenities. During winter, Pioneer Trail Group Campground is open with no fee unless you have a large group then you need to contact Dodge Ridge at info@dodgeridge.com.

Restrictions:
  • Camp in designated sites only.
  • The maximum length of stay in any campground is 14 days.
  • Campfire permits are not required in developed campgrounds. Do not burn plastic or metal.
  Please leave the area in as good (or better) condition than you found it.  Often, locations destroyed by thoughtless campers must be closed to restore the area's natural health. Help ensure your favorite area remains open.

Water: Potable water is available at faucets throughout campground. Filling of RVs is prohibited.

Pioneer Trail is a group campground with three sites. Reservations can be made year-round by contacting the National Recreation Reservation Service a (1-877-444-6777). Call early for reservations. Two of the sites have 50-person limits, with the largest campground able to handle up to 100-person capacity. Toilets are vault-style. Each site has pedestal grills, fireplaces, several tables (including a food preparation table) and several water hydrants. Each site has a paved parking area capable of various capacities, either 10, 15 or 25 vehicles – depending on the size of the vehicles. A one-mile trail leads from the campground sites to the Pinecrest Lake Day Use Area. 

Hours of Operation: Pioneer Group Campground is open year-round for group camping by reservation. This campground is open for individuals seeking to winter camp from October – April. Winter camping: first come, first served. No fee.
