Pinecrest Lake National Recreation Trail

Area Status: Open

This beautiful and moderately easy National Recreation Trail follows the shoreline around Pinecrest Lake, crossing the Stanislaus River, the lake's inlet, and the dam. Turn right off of Highway 108 at Pinecrest Lake Road. Hike clockwise starting from the Pinecrest Lake Marina or counterclosckwise starting from the south shore day use parking area. Dogs must be on a leash (Tuolumne County Leash Law enforced).

Current Conditions: Summit Ranger District (HWY 108)  Update June 1, 2024: The water in creeks and rivers are, high, fast,  and cold water. Plan for mud and down trees. Pack it in, Pack it out. Respect the private cabins. The vault toilet on the backside of the lake is CLOSED. 
Reservations: No reservations are needed.

Best Season: Spring and Fall
Busiest Season: Summer
Restrictions: Overnight tent camping not permitted along the trail.
Water: Water available throughout the day-use area and nearby commercial center market
Restroom: Flush toilets available throughout the day-use area
