General Information
Directions:From the Calaveras Ranger Station in Hathaway Pines, California, turn right onto Highway 4 and travel 3.3 miles east. In Avery, turn left onto Avery Sheep Ranch Road. Trailhead is approximately 1.5 miles on your right.
A small parking area is on the left side of Valley View Drive 130 feet from Avery Sheep Ranch Road.
Additional parking is .5 miles north on Valley View Drive, on the left.
Additional parking is .2 miles west on Avery Sheep Ranch Road, on the right.
This portion of Valley View Drive and the parking area on Avery Sheep Ranch Road are unpaved. Valley View Drive can be slick with mud after rains or snows. This county road also has a tendency to become deeply rutted and nearly impassable to low clearance vehicles.
