Rock Lake Trail
This trail features two small lakes, Elephant Rock Lake and Rock Lake, Elephant Rock, and granite outcrops. There are some burned-over areas, including around Rock Lake. The trail enters the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness at about the halfway point. 1.9 miles one-way. Moderate difficulty.
The trail starts at the Elephant Rock Lake Trailhead; road access is via a high-clearance road. Hikers may also start at the Union East Campground, which increases the one-way distance to 3.2 miles; this trailhead is accessible to all highway-legal vehicles.

Directions:From the Calaveras Ranger District head east on Highway 4 for approximately 26 miles, turn right on Spicer Reservoir Road, follow it for 7.9 miles, then slight left onto Forest Route 7N29Y (high-clearance road).
