Union East Campground to Elephant Rock Lake Trail
This trail can be used to access Elephant Rock Lake or used as a loop for Duck Lake. Trail accesses the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness.
The trail starts at the east end of Union East Campground and goes to Elephant Rock Lake. It features views of Union Reservoir with mountains in the background. Elephant Rock Lake with Elephant Rock in the background are at the end of the trail. Hikers may continue on to Elephant Rock and Rock Lake on the Rock Lake Trail. Moderate difficulty. 1.3 miles one-way.

General Information
Directions:From the Calaveras Ranger Station in Hathaway Pines, California, head east on Highway 4 for approximately 26 miles, turn right on Spicer Reservoir Road, follow Spicer road for 7.9 miles, then turn left on Forest Route 7N75. Stay on this for about .7 mile; turn right at the T-intersection and continue 1 mile to Union East Campground. Park in the gravel lot. Trail starts at the east end of the campground.
Accessible to all highway-legal vehicles. Trailhead access by car is blocked by snow and road closure of Spicer Reservoir Road in the winter season.
