Summit Ranger District (HWY 108) Update 5/25/2023: The only accessible trailheads are: Kennedy Meadows TH. Clark Fork Road opened on 5/24/2023 you can access Clark Fork TH, Disaster Creek TH, Arnot Creek TH. There is still heavy snow, ice, and very high and fast water in creeks, and rivers. The ground is saturated and there are sheets of water coming down the slopes. Call the Ranger Station for more information.
Reservations:
No reservation is required to use this trailhead. The trail leads directly into a Wilderness Area where a FREE wilderness permit is REQUIRED anytime a person or group travels OVERNIGHT. For overnight wilderness trips on the Stanislaus (into the Emigrant, Carson-Iceberg, or Mokelumne Wilderness), visitors must obtain a permit from the Summit Ranger Station (in person during office hours or self issue after hours).
