Butterball Lake


Butterball Lake offers a quiet atmosphere for canoeing, fishing and camping. The primary fish species are northern pike, perch and sucker.

General Information


Butterball Lake (formerly known as Long Lake) is located approximately 14 miles southeast of Hoyt Lakes.

  • Take County Road 110/ Forest Highway 11 east of Hoyt Lakes for 4 ½ mile.

  • Turn left on the Skibo Road/ UT 9232 (becomes Forest Road 120) for 4 miles.

  • Turn right to the Laird Creek Road/ Forest Road 795 for 3 ½ miles to the parking area and boat launch.

General Notes:

Canoe up the St. Louis River for about 4 miles. The ¼-mile portage to Butterball Lake is on your right in a bay.

Please use facilities provided such as fire rings, tent pads, and latrines and pack out garbage.
