Kekekabic Trail West

  

The Kekekabic Trail is a 46 mile trail with trailheads on the east (Kekekabic Trail East) and west. Most of this primitive trail is within the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Map and compass skills are recommended for users of this trail.  NOTE: A powerful windstorm on July 21, 2016 impacted a portion of the west end of the Trail.  Thanks to volunteer help, including the Kekekabic Trail Club, the trail is now clear and usable.

Current Conditions: The damage from a powerful windstorm on July 21, 2016 has been cleared by volunteer crews including the Kekekabic Trail Club.  The trail is open, though the attached Snowbank Lake Trails are not cleare at this time (June 28, 2017)
Reservations: Not required. See permit info below. 
Permit Info: Permits are required year round for day and overnight travel throughout the BWCAW.
