Wills Lake Hunter Walking Trails

A family grouse hunting at Wills Lake.

Wills Lake Hunter Walking Trails were developed for the conservation of ruffed grouse and woodcock and to provide hunting opportunities for these upland birds.  They also provide good habitat for birders to observe these and other species.

The area consists of several miles of interconnected loops through forest and openings.  Bring a map of the area when you visit.

You are allowed to hunt from the trail in this area.  You are also allowed to travel off trail.

There is no ATV or OHV use in the area, these are strictly walking trails.

Downloadable map and information.

As you hike or hunt, remember to Leave No Trace.  It is part of a good hunting ethic.

Leave No Trace

  • Plan ahead and prepare. Remove flagging.
  • Use trails when possible.
  • Dispose of waste properly.  Pack out shell casings, and remove dog litter when possible.
  • Minimize use and impact of fires.
  • Respect wildlife.  Keep dogs under control, and don't allow them to chase other animals.
  • Leave what you find.  Sight-in rifles away from hunting areas, don’t use  signs, trees etc. as targets
  • Be considerate of other visitors.  Be aware of your field of fire and where other trails are located.
