Grouse Falls Overlook Trail

The Grouse Falls Overlook trail is 0.5 miles long. It begins at Forest Road 33-26 and ends at a wooden deck overlooking the Grouse Falls cascade, which drops several hundred feet into Grouse Creek. The deep, rugged canyons of this area remind us of the hard work and remote life of the early miners who lived and worked in many of the drainages of the area.

General Information

Directions:

From Interstate 80, take the Foresthill exit to Foresthill Road and proceed 15.5 miles to the Foresthill Ranger Station.Continue 1.2 miles and turn right onto Mosquito Ridge Road. Follow Mosquito Ridge Road 19.25 miles to a left turn onto Peavine Road (Road 33). Drive almost 5 miles on this graveled road to the Grouse Falls Turnoff. At the end of this short spur is a parking area where the trail begins.

General Notes:

NOTE: Water is often not available along the route. Only water from developed systems at recreation sites is maintained safe to drink. Open water sources are easily contaminated by human or animal waste. Water from springs, lakes, ponds, and streams should be properly treated before drinking. You may wish to carry water with you. Another method of treatment is to use a backpacker’s water filter. However, the best way is to bring to water to a full boil for 5 minutes.
