Goose Meadow Campground

Goose Meadow Campground is located between the Truckee River and Highway 89, five miles south of Truckee, and not far from Tahoe City. The campground is situated on the banks above the Truckee River. Most sites are forested and shaded, and all are a short walking distance to the river. The campground offers single-family campsites, each equipped with a picnic table, campfire ring and grill. Each site has a bear box that must be used to store food and other scented items such as toiletries and pet food. Accessible vault toilets and drinking water also provided. Firewood available at campground at the host site.  Please note that Highway 89 road noise can be heard from this campground.

Most single family sites and group campgrounds can be reserved at www.recreation.gov or (877) 444-6777.

Visitors enjoy the area for its bike riding and hiking opportunities, as well as its proximity to Lake Tahoe and Olympic Valley. A paved trail starts just a few miles south of the campground at the entrance to Olympic Valley. Walkers, skaters, and bike riders can follow the paved trail to Tahoe City and beyond as it parallels the Truckee River, or head west into Olympic Valley for food and entertainment. Campers also enjoy swimming and tubing on the river. Rafting opportunities may be available in the summertime in Tahoe City. Fly-fishing on the Truckee River is also a popular activity. Special restrictions apply.

No camping or campfires allowed outside of developed campgrounds.
