USFS Volunteer Opportunity

Ratcliff Lake Recreation Area was built in 1936 by the Civilian Conservation Corps. It surrounds a picturesque 45-acre lake that was once a log pond and a source of water for the Central Coal and Coke Company sawmill which operated from 1902 to 1920. The area offers opportunities for camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing and hiking. The Four C National Recreation Trail is 20 miles and originates in the Ratcliff Recreation Area and goes to the Neches Bluff Overlook.
Forest visitors can now camp up to 28 days at selected recreation areas in the National Forests and Grasslands in Texas. Extended camping is offered at:

From Lufkin: Take Hwy. 103 west for 16 miles where it merges with Hwy. 7. Continue west for 12 miles and turn right at entrance to the recreation area.
From Crockett: Take Hwy. 7 east for 15 miles and turn left on entrance road ($5 day-use fee per vehicle, per day at Ratcliff Lake).
Ratcliff Lake Fees
Camping (At single sites - up to two vehicles and eight people camping per site. At group sites – up to three vehicles and 20 people camping per site. Additional vehicles are $5 per vehicle per day.)
Electrical Sites: $20 per day
Electrical Sites with Interagency Senior/Access or Golden Age/Access: $10 per day
Non-Electrical Sites: $15 per day
Non-Electrical Sites with Interagency Senior/Access or Golden Age/Access: $7.50 per day
Additional vehicles over 2 at each site: $5 per vehicle, per day
Non-Electrical Group Sites: $30 per day
Non-Electrical Group Site with Interagency Senior/Access or Golden Age/Access: $15 per day
Additional vehicles over 3 at each site: $5 per vehicle, per day
Campsites are available by reservation and first come, first served. Reservations can be made two days in advance at www.recreation.gov or by calling 1-877-444-6777.
