An accessible 0.2 mile boardwalk near milepost 9 on the forest road 8580 winds its way through a muskeg to the hot tub. Expect to see wildlife, and be on the lookout for brown bears which commonly use the area.

General Information
Directions: From Hoonah go by float plane or boat 16 miles southwest through Port Frederick to Eight Fathom Dock, then by land on Forest road 8580. This single-lane road is an adventure in itself. Hike, bike, ski or drive the nine miles to the trailhead.
The hot tub is easily accessed by mountain bike on Forest road #8580. The riding distance from the Eight Fathom float dock is 9 miles and an additional mile from the Eight Fathom cabin. Mountain bikers will experience a fairly flat loose gravel single lane logging road.

Primitive dispersed camping opportunities are available at various locations along this route. There are no existing hardened camp sites.

Freshwater fishing opportunities available in season for a variety of species including salmon, trout, and Dolly Varden. Refer to http://www.adfg.alaska.gov species, permits and regulations.
Backpacking
Backpackers can hike the 9 mile route along Forest Road 8580 from the Eight Fathom float dock to the hot springs. This is an isolated road system that does not receive consistent vehicle traffic.

This is a natural hot springs site that pipes hot water from the source into a 7 ft diameter x 36 in deep cedar tub.
XC Skiing/Snowshoeing
The hot tub is easily accessed during winter months by XC ski or snowshoe on Forest road #8580. The distance from the Eight Fathom float dock is 9 miles and an additional mile from the Eight Fathom cabin. 8580 is a fairly flat single lane logging road.
